Theirritation
the the young Gharu'ndim felt having to continually wipe the cold
wet rain drops forming at the end of his nose seemed to subside
with a break in the clouds.
"figures the clouds clear as I finish gathering the wood",
the boy scoffed. Dropping the last of the wood into the box brought
relief to the boys aching muscles.
"Of course he must be hiding away right now laughing that I
not only have to clean the smithy but collect the stupid firewood
in his absence" .. he proclaimed.
A plump older
lady dressed in a drab house dress scuttled into the Kitchen carrying
a load of pans whistling a happy tune and heading towards the stove.
The whistle came to an abrupt halt when she tripped over a kitchen
broom and landed with a crashing thud.
With a large
bellow the maiden shrieked "SHIRA.... When I get my hands on
YE WILL wish the Banderlings had gotten Ya!!". She bellowed
in vain as the boy had already ducked out of the kitchen half-way
to the smithy with a smirk on his face.
"Servers
ya right Hilda you wench, always tell me to watch where I am going",
he called after her trying to keep down a low giggle. He knew when
he got back he was probably not going to have any dinner but it
was well worth the chuckle.
Shira went
towards the Smithy to finish his chores hoping to make up for the
broom incident. He truly thought of Hilda as a second mum since
the lost of both of his parents.
Lost in thought
he rounded a corner by the Fletcher that if he was thinking about
he would have avoided. This is the spot where Mickey was last seen
before his disappearance. Although Mickey took things a bit to serious
he still dearly missed his friend company.
Mickey was
not the first to disappear in Zaikhal but he was the first in a
long time. His disappearance weighed heavily on Shira. The rumors
about the disappearances ranged from banderling attacks to simple
runaways. Mickey would not run; he was like me he had no where else
to go. Shira thought. Surely he would have told me...
"Wake
up lad" said a gruffly voice coming from within the smithy.
I have much work to get done before sun down."
"Aye,
sir" Shira said in a solemn voice. Opening the door to the
Smithy..
